Walk-in scripts (v1)
How to use this page
- Start every stop with the opener, word for word. Do not change it.
- Pick the segment for the business in front of you. Pick the door line per [DECISION 3], based on how they first heard from us: a note we sent, or a community nomination.
- At the counter, use the 60-second doorway version. Its only job is to reach the owner or book the fifteen minutes. It does not sell.
- With the owner, read the 5-minute owner version top to bottom, except the line marked [SPOKEN ONLY, IF ASKED]. The ask is always the fifteen-minute slot, offered as two real times.
- Always end on the referral ask. If it is not the day, leave the leave-behind and the nomination card.
- Keep the board preview page open on your phone for the "show the board" moment (the existing Zeus preview page, the same one in the Joe pack). Real board photos replace it once Zeus drops them into the leave-behind.
Shared blocks (reference copy)
Say these the same way every time. The owner versions below already fold these in. This section is here for when you need one on its own.
A. The opener (verbatim, do not edit)
"We were trying to reach you online but hadn't heard back yet, so we came by."
B. Door line [DECISION 3] (pick one per stop)
- Path B (they got our email, DM, or saw the ad): "We sent you a note about covering a year of marketing for {{business}}."
- Path A (someone nominated them): "Someone in the community nominated {{business}} for this."
H. The growth-cap line [DECISION 2]
"One thing to know: we take on [N] new locations per county per month so every business gets built properly. This month's group starts Monday, so the timing's good."
J. The not-now exit
"If now's not the time, no worries. Let me leave this with you so you've got it. [leave-behind] And if there's a local business you love that could use a free board, put their name on this and we'll tell them you sent us. [nomination card]"
Daycare
60-second doorway version (spoken, about 120 to 150 words)
"We were trying to reach you online but hadn't heard back yet, so we came by. [DECISION 3: door line, Path B default] We sent you a note about covering a year of marketing for {{business}}.
Quick version: we put a free specials board inside daycares like yours, right where parents already pass twice a day, so it works as your daily parent update too. Full rooms, and parents who rave about you, that's what the whole thing is built toward.
It comes with a year of real marketing our team does for you. A website you keep, your Google listing fixed, social media handled. You never pay for it. Other local businesses cover it by advertising on the board.
Is the owner around for a minute? If not, no problem. I'd love fifteen minutes with them this week to walk through a plan. Could we set a time, or when's good for me to come back?"
5-minute owner version (spoken, about 450 to 600 words)
"We were trying to reach you online but hadn't heard back yet, so we came by. [DECISION 3: door line, Path B default] We sent you a note about covering a year of marketing for {{business}}.
Picture full rooms, and parents who rave about you at every pickup. The board sits where parents pass twice a day, so it works as your daily update too. That's what we build the plan toward. I'm calling this [DECISION 4: offer name; default: a full year of marketing, covered] for a daycare like yours.
Here's the whole thing in one breath. You get a custom website, built and hosted, yours to keep. We clean up your Google listing and keep it working. We run your social media for you, fed by a daily photo of your board. We put a specials board and stand right in your place. We run a campaign to bring your old customers back. And it starts with a 15-minute talk that becomes a written plan. You never pay for any of it. Not to start, not monthly, not ever.
We start on your Google listing right away, [DECISION 1: real timeline], and your new website goes live [DECISION 1: real timeline].
Here's where the money comes from, plain. The board has ad slots on it. Other local businesses pay for those slots for the year. That money makes the board and covers your marketing year. So other businesses here in [COUNTY] cover your year, and you don't.
[SPOKEN ONLY, IF ASKED] Only if they ask what a slot costs: "It runs about a thousand a slot for the year, and a basic board has six slots." Do not volunteer it.
You're probably wondering where the hook is. Here it is, straight. First: you keep everything we build. The website, the Google work, all of it. It's yours, whatever you decide later. Second: if after the 15-minute visit you don't want the program, we'll still fix your Google listing, free, for your time. All we ask on your end is that you keep the board up and displayed for twelve months. That's the whole agreement.
Let me show you what it looks like. (Pull up the board preview on your phone.) There are three styles, depending on your spot. The basic one, six ad slots across the bottom with your specials up top. The side-rail, slots down each side, eight or four to a column, with more room for specials in the middle. The A-frame, two six-slot boards back to back, standing on the sidewalk on its own, for spots with a lot of foot traffic.
One thing to know: we take on [N] new locations per county per month so every business gets built properly. [DECISION 2] This month's group starts Monday, so the timing's good. [DECISION 2]
So here's all I'm asking for right now. Fifteen minutes with you, at your place, and you walk away with a written plan either way. What's better for you, [Tuesday afternoon] or [Thursday morning]? I'll come to you.
When we build your plan, the one thing I'll ask you for is 10-20 names. Your banker, your realtor, your insurance agent, your suppliers, the regulars who own businesses around here. An email or a text intro from you is ideal. If you'd rather not, we just call them ourselves. You never sell a thing. We do the calling and sell the slots.
If now's not the time, no worries. Let me leave this with you so you've got it. [leave-behind] And if there's a local business you love that could use a free board, put their name on this and we'll tell them you sent us. [nomination card]"

Pet groomer (Monday variant, doorway only) [DECISION 4]
60-second doorway version (spoken, about 120 to 150 words)
"We were trying to reach you online but hadn't heard back yet, so we came by. [DECISION 3: door line, Path B default] We sent you a note about covering a year of marketing for {{business}}.
Quick version: we put a free board right where owners wait for their dogs. [DECISION 4: dream line] A fuller booking sheet, and your regulars coming back on schedule, that's what the whole thing is built toward.
It comes with a year of real marketing our team does for you. A website you keep, your Google listing fixed, social media handled. You never pay for it. Other local businesses cover it by advertising on the board.
I know it's a holiday and you're busy, so I won't hold you. Is the owner around, or when's a good time this week for a quick fifteen minutes? I'll come to you."
Questions owners ask
- What does it cost me? Nothing. Not to start, not monthly, not ever. The businesses advertising on the board pay for it.
- What do I have to do? Three things. About fifteen minutes with me for the plan, post your specials or updates on the board like you would anyway, and keep it up for twelve months. You sign a simple agreement, and that's the whole commitment.
- Where does the money come from, and why is it free, really? The ad slots. Other local businesses pay for the slots on your board for the year, and that covers your board and your marketing. That's the whole reason we can do it.
- Who advertises on it? Other local businesses that want to reach your customers. We do all the selling. You do not.
- What if I stop? You keep everything we build. The website, the Google work, all of it is yours. The one thing we ask is you keep the board up and displayed for the twelve months.
- How long until I see the website? [DECISION 1: real timeline]. We start on your Google listing right away, [DECISION 1: real timeline].
- Can I pick who advertises? They're other local businesses that want to reach your customers, and most come from the names you hand us. If something ever looks off to you, tell us.
- What if I don't want a board in my window or lobby? We have three styles and a few spots that work, and one usually fits without being in the way. If none of them work for you, that's fine, and there's no pressure.
- How much of my time is this? About fifteen minutes for the first talk, then a few seconds a day to snap a photo of your specials. That daily photo feeds your social media.
When to walk away
- If the owner is with a customer or slammed, don't pitch. Book the fifteen minutes for later and leave the card.
- If they say no twice, stop. Leave the leave-behind, ask for one nomination, and thank them.
- If it's the wrong fit or a bad moment, hand them a nomination card and move to the next stop. No chasing.
